CH Highfields Summer Thunder UD
Rascal's
Story
7/7/78 - 1/25/93 Rascal was from my second litter in
shelties. He was sired by Am/Can CH Kismet's High Hammock Blue Jay CD
and was out of Highfields Summer Storm CD.
Rascal finished his Championship very quickly, owner-handled to all but
his final major. Thanks go to Bill Munsey for that. After finishing his
CH Rascal started his obedience career. He was far from the greatest
obedience dog that ever lived! He managed to get a CD and CDX with
little problem but when it came to Utility he drew the line. It took 50
painful shows, but he finally did get his third leg to become the 50th
CH/UD in breed history. While he was not a great obedience dog he
produced many that were. According to Karen Hostetter's Proposed
Obedience ROM Champion list (Sheltie Pacesetter, May/June 1992, Page
4)he had 27 titled offspring which included 8 UD's, 2 of which were
OTCH's (almost 3 - Crystal of Highfields, owned by Mary Jane Kelly, had
85 points when she was retired due to an injury). There were several
others with either OTCH points or breed points.
Rascal was OFA Good SS-2336G174M-T (I always secretly thought that any
dog that was OFA Good at 14 1/2 years of age deserves to be rated an
Excellent!!)
